Garmin 410 - An EvaluationBeing a club level runner and long time user of garmin 405, I was very excited about the release of a potentially updated and improved version of the industry's most functionality rich GPS sports watch.Touch Sensitive Bezel The touch sensitive bezel bought over from the Forerunner 405 is a feature that you either adore or you despise. The Ipod generation are often able to rapidly grasp how to manipulate the watch properly by applying the proper motions and pressure's to the bezel, but slightly older wearers quite often found that the Forerunner 405 bezel just generated immense stress rather than making the watch a joy to use. With the new 410, Garmin doesn't seem to have made the bezel any more user friendly and have even removed the capability for the wearer to change the sensitivity of the watch's bezel - the one feature of the Garmin 405 bezel that allowed the user some flexibility. From running with the Forerunner 410 for three weeks now, I can say that the Bezel hasnt resulted in me any trouble and I find that I only use it to set the watch up before a run. Typically when I am out running with the watch in training mode I mainly use the Start/Stop and Lap/Reset buttons to control the unit.Hot Fix GPS ReceiverThere are a number of enhancements made to the 410 that I genuinely like however. The new high sensitive GPS is so powerful that my Forerunner 410 at times actually picks up a signal indoors before I have even began a run and is very quick to pick up a signal again if I loose reception whilst in the middle of a session.Heart Rate Based Calorie CalculatorI also really like the new calorie computer. I am training for an IronMan and knowing the precise amount of energy that I am expanding has made it much easier for me to plan my food intake for the big day's 12-15 hour raceHeart Rate MonitorThe new style heart rate monitor that the Garmin 410 is supplied with is also a much needed improvement as it is a lot more comfortable than the traditional style heart rate monitors as it isnt as restrictive.Feature List of the Garmin 410
High sensitive hotfix GPS Receiver means you can track and record up to 40 essential training statistics in real timeAnalyse your run's using Garmin's feature rich Connect WebsiteThe Virtual Training Partner enables you to race against a virtual runner - very useful for race practice.Use for cycling and runningCompatible with many wireless ANT+ Heart Rate Straps and Bike SensorsSet up powerfull workouts quickly and easily
